Hezbollah Prevent their Members from Demonstrating along the Southern Border!

الحدود الجنوبية
Demonstrations along the border have receded gradually and will have completely stopped starting Monday! Measures are currently being taken to prevent the expansion of this phenomenon, so that some “enthusiasm”, such as demonstrators crossing the border, does not trigger an explosive situation. Hezbollah does not currently want to start a war with Israel, nor do they want to pledge revenge for another member who could be killed by Israel!

Following a few tumultuous days and a series of popular demonstrations along the border emerging from Palestinian camps in the North, South, Bekaa, and Beirut, Hezbollah started to interfere with the situation after one of their members, Mohamad Tahhan, was killed. Janoubia learned that Hezbollah has circulated to its members, leaders, and all affiliates that all calls for movements and demonstrations across the borders are prohibited, and that further guidelines will be solely issued by party leadership.

The information confirms that “Hezbollah” have also decided to contain their demonstrations within major cities in specific areas in the form of small public celebrations and solidarity stances, in order to compensate for the decision which was taken starting from Sunday to prevent all demonstrations across the border. The decision was taken to prevent anyone from approaching the barbed fence along the border and possibly causing tension with the Israeli which could result in another shootout. Sources also claim that Hezbollah withdrew all mentions within their networks of the investigations that suggested Tahhat was killed inside Lebanese territory.

What this means is that the attack qualifies for a response according to Nasrallah’s declaration last year, which came following the killing of one of their members, Ali Mohsen, in Syria. The declaration stated that all such attacks will be responded to according to the principle of “an eye for an eye.”

One year following the absence of a response for Ali Mohsen; pledging revenge for Tahhan would only cause further embarrassment, especially that he was killed in a non-combative position.

Gradually Ending Demonstrations

In order to avoid further embarrassment and media spotlights, Hezbollah contacted leaders of Palestinian factions and their Lebanese allies including leftist parties, and informed them of the necessity to avoid further calls to go south; according to Janoubia’s sources.  The message was well received, and solidarity was displayed and the media covered the situation accordingly.

Furthermore, yesterday the Lebanese Army was asked to ensure that Palestinians who do not have a permit cannot enter the South. New permits will no longer be granted to Palestinians as of Monday, following a series of phone calls with Palestinian faction leaders.

How Did the Situation in the South Appear Yesterday?

Yesterday, caution dominated the southern border region, and the army intensified its measures in the border villages, amid the deployment of UNIFIL international forces, the establishment of fixed checkpoints, and the patrolling of mobile forces.

Two movements occurred yesterday in solidarity with Gaza and Al-Aqsa: The first belonged to the Future Movement and MP Bahia Al Hariri in Marwahin, and the second to the “Islamic Group” in front of the Al Mutla settlement, near the village of Ghajar and the Shebaa Farms.
