With respect to Sheikh Hussein Atwi, who was arrested after firing a rocket from the town of al-Marri toward occupied Palestine, Salam vowed to issue instructions calling for better treatment and care for his case.
Is it actually the right of all the Lebanese to resist the Zionist enemy as stipulated the ministerial statement or is fighting Israel limited to the tripartite the “people, army, resistance.” This tripartite kept the government and officials busy so long, while deciding whether to include it or not in the ministerial statement… and is the resistance limited to Hezbollah?
With every military operation conducted from south Lebanon, the Lebanese are divided between those who say “we are all Hezbollah facing Israel” and another group that wishes for both, Hezbollah and Israel, to go to hell and guard the country safe.
Lebanon has double standards in dealing with paramilitary arms. When Sheikh Hussein Atwi fired a rocket from the town of al-Marri toward occupied Palestine he was arrested, while no state official held Hezbollah accountable for acting outside the Lebanese authority.
So, where the officials really aware of the military operation conducted recently by Hezbollah? Did the Prime Minister and Cabinet hear about it? What about the security agencies, why are they turning a deaf ear to the incident? Where is the state authority and prestige? Where are those who always cheer for the Lebanese Army and ask that it has the only military power in the country?
Are we not allowed to question Hezbollah’s operation, date and time? Hasn’t Israel targeted Hezbollah in Syrian territories? Doesn’t that mean that it has violated the Syrian sovereignty? So why should Lebanon be the land where Hezbollah responds to the attack from and risk igniting another war similar to what happened in July 2006?
No reasonable Arab citizen would support any Israeli aggression on any Arab territories, but Hezbollah should at least stay out from Syria and question why do the Syrian people that once supported the group now stand against it?
